So I made it through my first Black Friday/ Small Business Saturday/Cyber Monday Blitz. At the time of this Blog post, I am STILL up to my eyebrows in orders. With that in mind, I wanted to carve out a space to reflect on a few things that I've learned during this this time. Specifically, what went well and what I want to improve on next time around! Basically a mini Playbook for KLigg Co's 2021 Black Friday or for any other Small Business owner out there prepping for your next big sale.
Had the pleasure of working with the amazing team over at Therapy For Black Girls for the creation of a digital coloring book! Therapy for Black Girls is an online space dedicated to encouraging the mental wellness of Black women and girls. It was a joy to create with our community in mind! ✨🤎🎨 You may ask, How were we connected? YOU!😭 Their platform sent the call out for Black Female digital Illustrators & the support of this community lifted KLigg Co to their attention! I could not be more grateful. Whoever you all are out there in the universe, thank you thank THANK YOU🤎 ![]() Make your me-time colorful with this 15-page beautifully illustrated digital coloring book. Perfect for Black girls of all ages! Pages can be printed for personal use. ENJOY! 🖍🎨 Somethings happen in life, and you will never forget where you were when the news broke. When Nipsey died, I was in LA for the first time. I just checked into my AirBNB, sat on the bed, scrolled on Twitter & saw the breaking TMZ tweets that Nipsey had been shot in front of The Marathon Store. It wasn't until I began traveling through the city, that I felt just how deeply connected Nipsey was to his Crenshaw community. "Neighborhood Nip" , was not only a rapper, but a community activist & entrepreneur with an amazing mind. This wallpaper is a dedication to a life tragically cut short, but beautifully lived. From his life, I draw continous inspiration on the importance of investing in our communities and teaching from a place of healing. What he leaves behind is a blueprint on how to have a meaningful impact on your community. Long Live, Nipsey The Marathon Continues. Inhale in the good. Exhale the bad. Repeat x 3 Breathe in. Release all tension you feel in your body. Repeat.
My preferred everyday uniform is a pair of biker shorts & an oversized tee.
In June, I went on a binge buying every dope Black Owned shirt I could get my hands on. As a result my tee collection has grown, substantially. Sharing a few of my favs & where you can find them. I’ll also be adding more brands over time, so this will be a running list. Be sure to check back in or share a Black Owned brand you love in the comments. enjoy, KLigg xoxo I am officially 3 months into owning & operating my own business. It has truly been the most exciting, thrilling and frighting journey of my life.
Taking in so much about the world of business, and even more about myself! Sharing the Top 4 Lessons I have learned so far along the way. I started 2020 with a plan. A plan to shake up my life a bit. Richmond is forever home, but I was beginning to feel stagnant. I love my job. It was my dream job. But even that was starting to feel less fulfilling. So, I came up with a plan to take a giant leap. Start a NEW job, in a NEW city, with a fresh set of career goals. YAY!
Then COVID. I feel like we all have a “but then COVID” story. This is mine. Antique shopping has been my go to COVID activity this month. I can spend hours rummaging through items & allowing my mind to wonder in a sea of nostalgia.
The mask comes in handy as well for not only stopping potential germs, but from the sometimes excessive dust from the gems in the shop. My initial thoughts, finds & personal opinions on my first three antiquing adventures. |
