Hi All! I’m Kadeja, creator & illustrator for @kligg.co . Wanted to take the time to show my face & introduce the person behind the work. ✨🤸🏾♀️⠀
⠀
Like many people, being stuck in Quarantine & dealing with the sudden shift that is Covid-19, changed my daily routine. I picked up a sketch pad, pencils, oil pastels, paint, ANYTHING in order to stop the mindless scrolling on newsfeeds & social media. Creative outlet found, but not quite satisfied. I felt limited by the colors & especially the possibilities for skin tones. Two weeks later, I switched over to an IPad & Apple Pencil. (ITS LIT.) 💫🥳⠀
I grew up in a house of Art. Like every Black Auntie’s house, the ladies in my family covered their walls with Black art. Some pieces were erotic, some inspired by African culture, some were more modern pieces; but all bore Ebony brown skin. They screamed at me that I mattered, that my skin & the skin of those around me is & forever will be a work of Art. ⠀
I create images that represent Black women like me. I create images to inspire Black girls to design and blend colors that represent & resonate with them.⠀
THANK YOU for being here.
THANK YOU for supporting.
& THANK YOU for coming on this journey with me.
